This Greenwich Village Bistro is an odd duck of a restaurant. I grab lunch here on weekends now and again and occasionally stop in for dinner with friends, but it is only as a convenience, not a destination.
The quality of the food is middling - it will do when you’re more interested in conversation than cuisine. The standard, American or New York dishes are all just a little off-kilter. The hash browns don’t hold together quite right. The croque monsieur comes with some pink pickled onion stuff that seems to be of Asian origin but doesn’t suit the rest of the plate. The macaroni and cheese – a fine idea for a restaurant aiming for a homey feel – is a bit watery and not flavored strongly enough.
Each time I go there I wonder why. It has to do with quick, easy and cheap and not much else.

hi ronni, i know that chelsea is the gallery district these days, but are there any galleries in the village still... any important ones?
New Yorkers eat much more out than we do. The Dutch cook more at home. Penny wise and pound wise. :-) I think we have more snack bars with our special Dutch fast food. We eat that a lot coz it`s fast and cheap.

For me it is back to work on Monday after 6 weeks off. Since it is so warm here, I would like another 2 weeks but I realize it sounds so decadent to someone in America.
